School Project Update 6 July 2008
English Medium
Last year we re-painted and furnished Balvadi and Manibhai Bhuvan to start Nursery, Junior KG and Senior KG. We recruited 3 new teachers and also used Anitaben who was running our old Balvadi. In our fisrt year we had 95 children.
This year re-wired Manibhai Bhuvan and prepared our English Medium Std 1 in the High School Building. Std 1 Classroom repainted, fitted new aluminium windows, fan and put 21 new benches from Valsad. Bought new table, new pc and 32 " monitor. Purchased new software. Had our old inverter repaired and installed it in the class. Recruited 2 new teachers as 1 left.
Fees: Nursery Rs.2400, Junior & Senior KG Rs.1600 and Std 1 Rs.2100. Number of pupils in English Medium. Nursery 11, Jnr KG 30, Snr KG 37 and 1st Std 27. Total 105. 4 non granted teachers. Kamini, Preeti, Priyaben and Pallavi. Anitaben paid by Navjyot Mandal NZ. I suggest we recruit 1 more teacher.
Gujarati Medium Primary
Number of pupils in our Gujarati Medium Primary. Std 1-2, Std 2-4, Std 3-9, Std 4-13, Std 5-22, Std 6-27 and Std 7-28. Total 104. Granted 5 teachers in Primary Section and 1 non granted.
Gujarati Medium High & Higher Secondary with Science
Computer Lab repainted, carpeted , fitted fans and installed 2 a/cs. We still need to install an inverter which will cost about Rs.30000.
Library repainted, carpeted , fitted fans and installed 3 a/cs. Bought a new table. Used old Pc but had to buy barcode reader and printer. Installed custom made software. Had 48 new chairs made from Umbergaon and also recruited a full time librarian. We have a total of 3247 books in our Library. Rs.1lac worth of books donated by Manubhai Giju from Toronto and there is still Rs.50000 more to come. Had to throw away a lot of books which were infected by udhai. Our Library now is fully barcoded and computerized. Introduced Library to all High School and now it is now fully functional.
Last year we obtained permission for 11th & 12th Science and made 3 laboratories. Fully equipped all of them. All 3 Laboratories repainted, fitted new aluminum windows and have ordered new equipment for 12th Science. We have 25 students in 11th and 30 in 12th Science. Fees for 11 & 12 Science students. Rs.3150 per year. We have recruited 4 non granted teachers.
Number of students in High & Higher Secondary. 8a 53, 8b 49, 9a 58, 9b 60, 10a 60, 10b 61, 11-50 and 12-76. 11 Science 25 and 12 Science 30. Total 522. Granted. 13 teachers including Principal , 2 clerks and 3 peons in High & Higher Secondary. 6 non granted teachers. Computer, Drawing, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths. I think we need 1 more English teacher. We have started to receive High School rent Rs.50400 per annum.
Introduced uniform for all teachers. Navy trousers and striped sky blue shirts for male teachers. Printed sky blue sarees/punjabi suits for female teachers. We will buy 1 pair initially and they will buy the other. We are also in process of changing school times. Soon starting Adult Education. 7 application already received. Total number of children in our schools. 522 + 105 + 104 = 731.
Result. HSC Std 12 76.19% 32/42. Highest marks 72.43% Maheshbhai Devsingbhai Chaudhary of Vyara (Hostel student).
Result. SSC Std 10 90.14% 64/71. Highest marks 78.31% Gayatri Natubhai Patel of Samapur
Awards. 3rd Shrest Shala (best school) in first 10 out of 156 schools in Navsari Jilla. Rs.10000. Also received Navsari Jilla’s Nirmal Shala award Rs.2000.
General
Leakage repairs. Down pipes being fitted. Roof on top of 3 air vents in Secondary section made and fitted. Same in kitchen being done. Swimming pool drainage pipes installed. Car park drainage pipes installed. Removed some old trees and planted 30 new Sopari trees. We still have to build the valve room. We still have to make the takhtis (plaques).
Hostel
We also spent a lot of money in our hostel last year. We built sheds in the front and at the back. Installed pipework for washing and modified toilets and bathrooms. Block paved part of the back yard. We also had to build some bathrooms on top of Geeta Sanskar Bhuvan. We also bought new bunk beds.
This year. Hostel drainage pipes installed, built 10 new toilets and 2 new septic tanks. Block paved at the back, passage and 3ft pathway to front gate. We still need to install a 5000lts water tank for the girls section which will cost about Rs.25000.
Number of hostel boys and girls classwise. 5th=5, 6th=8,7th=11 (24 Primary). 8th=49, 9th=50, 10th=37, 11th=25 and 12th=57. Totally we have 105 boys and 137 girls in the hostel. Fees. 5, 6 & 7 = Rs.5000. 8, 9 & 10 = Rs.7000 and 11 & 12 Rs.8000 per year. Food. 9.30am Roti, Subji, Dal & Rice. 7.30pm Rotla / Roti and Kathor. Farsan last Sunday of the month. The hostel at the moment is being run by Manav Seva Trust and BVKM. We are in the process of getting a granted permission for 40 boys and 40 girls.
I would like to thank all those who have contributed generously to our School re-building Project. I would like to thank my team who have given and are still giving their valuable time for the cause. I would also like to thank Mandhata Wolverhampton for raising funds for us on 2 occasions. Their New Year’s Party and the Valentine Dinner & Dance. We have come a long way but still there is a lot that needs to be done and the fund raising will have to be ongoing. We have till now spent some 2.50 crores.
On the whole, I feel that this has been a very successful and worthwhile project which will help raise the standard of education in our area and give our children better opportunities. I am extremely happy with the progress so far and would like to thank you all for your generous support.
